What are you building your work around today?
What is that one thing that is central to all you do?
What drives your work day and daily life?
It may be pleasing your boss.
It may be making money.
It may be serving others and making their lives better.
Perhaps it is producing the best service or product of its kind in your industry.
But what is it- in your honest opinion- that drives your reason for working? We all have one. It governs the what and the how of our life and work!
I am not here to judge whether your “one thing” is the right thing or not. I am simply saying that whatever it is drives everything else in the course of your every work day. Paul said in his letter to the Philippians, “…but one thing I do…I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 3:13-14)
For Paul, that was his daily purpose and mission in life. And his life reflected it. No matter what his work day entailed, it was all about pursuing what he called his “upward call.”
Today’s Workplace Challenge:
What is your one thing?
Does it ultimately bring glory to God?
Does it fulfill God’s higher purposes for your reason for working and being alive?
Does it contribute to God’s economy?
Make no mistake: it will dominate everything in your life all day today.
Take a moment and take this matter before the Lord this morning.
Do so to ensure that you are living for all the right reasons and purposes.
Do so to be sure you are lined up with the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
Make sure that your one thing is the right thing!
Do so and you will really make today count!

Who is your role model of a Christ-like servant leader?
Who embodies the heart, head, hands and habits of Jesus?
What can you thank God for in their example?
What do you want to imitate in their faith and lifestyle?
While our eyes are first to be on Jesus, men and women through the ages have followed Him, providing examples of faith and servant leadership. Circumstances and situations may change, but Jesus' example of servant leadership is timeless.

Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.--Hebrews 13:7-8

Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for providing a role model for all time, and thank You for the people whose faithfulness impacted my life. I want to be used by You in the same way that You used them in my life. Help me to rise to new levels of faithfulness and service in Your name, Amen.
