That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. –
2 Corinthians 12:10 (NIV)
So many times we cry out to God to create a miracle on our behalf. As God is definitely capable of creating a miracle, there are times that He purposefully delays. When that happens, we come to see that there is typically a kink in the system. As humans, we generally draw near to God only long and deep enough to find out what He can do for us.
It is not until things go astray or things get extracted from our lives that we allow ourselves to lean in closer. The more that people and things fail us, the more we have to turn to Him to meet our needs. Although with every inch that we draw closer it increases our level of vulnerability. One of the greatest things about God is the fact that it is perfectly safe to be completely vulnerable with Him.
A paramount oxymoron found in scripture talks about strength being found in weakness. When everything and everyone fails us, as well as own efforts, it is at that point that we tend to draw closer and get to know Him more intimately. At our weakest point, He comes in and becomes the ultimate strength. At His discretion, He will work a miracle if it is something that is in our overall best interest.
Prayer:
Thank You delaying answers to prayers to help me to draw nearer to You. It is in my weakness efforts and that of others that Your strength can manifest in me to its fullest extent.
