A delightful aroma is alluring and can even change moods and dispositions. The Bible says that our lives are a sweet smelling aroma to God. The Bible explains it this way in 2 Corinthians 2:15, “For we are to God the fragrance of Christ to those who are being saved and among those who are perishing”.
This is an unusual question for me to ask but, what do you smell like in the workplace?
Is your Christian life a sweet and pleasing fragrance to God and to those around you?
Or, is your “spiritual body odor” repulsive and offensive (i.e. holier-than-thou, judgmental, hypocritical, etc.)?
Throughout the Bible, Jesus serves as our example of truth and love, and He is the One we strive to be like. His life was the sweet smelling aroma in this world and, His life was attractive and inviting to those He encountered. Jesus never compromised truth but acted with love and service toward others.
Our lives should reflect the life of Christ as we give ourselves in acts of love, service toward others and excellence at work. Living in this way will be pleasing to God and attractive to others.
Workplace Challenge:
- Evaluate what your life “smells” like at work.
- Do you release the sweet smelling aroma of Christ in the workplace so that others are drawn to your faith and to the Lord?
- Or, would you describe it as a repulsive and distasteful aroma?
As workplace believers we are called to be like Jesus; to love others, to serve with joy and to be excellent in all things. It doesn’t matter where you are employed, acts of love, service and excellence will release an enticing fragrance in your workplace. May the powerful aroma of Christ that resides in you be so sweet and alluring that others are drawn to the Savior.
Have a delightful, alluring Monday & a Great sweet-smelling aroma Week ahead!
