God is Dangerous

God is dangerous.

He will not do what you want.

He expects you to want what He does.

That is called loving Him and trusting Him through faith.

He is God and we are not.

It is very important to keep that differentiation in front of us.

He is not like us. His ways are not our ways (Is. 55.8-9). If He told us what He is doing, we still would not understand. He is not like us, and we must never sit in judgment over His actions or commands (Job 38, 39, 40.1-2). That is called rebellion. He is God and we are not.

Remember the exercise of thanking God each morning for 10 things He has recently done? That is giving Him the honor and glory that is rightfully His for what He has done and helps us keep a dependent heart on God. It is a very important part of our morning time of prayer and Bible reading.

We can do nothing that matters for eternity without Christ (John 15.5). That statement is real, is true, and is how the universe works. We need to be consciously dependent on Him. Always. Like the vine branch is dependent on the vine, and dies without it (John 15.5-6)

Is God dangerous?

From the perspective that He is not predictable (by us) in what He does – yes.

From the perspective that He is 100% predictable in His overwhelming love for us (I John4.8, 16, Rom. 5.8) – no,

He is not dangerous at all. He is the most dependable person in the universe (Num. 23.19). But He is God and we are not, and we must never confuse the two.
